Never to be bested!

Here's a species I don't think I'll ever need to photograph again and might not ever match or surpass the opportunity to do so. This and another Le Conte's Sparrow spent a week or so at the prairie parcel of Pheasant Branch Conservancy back in October 2012. These also happened to be the very first Le Conte's Sparrows I've ever observed at the prairie. They were discovered by Dottie Johnson near the second retention pond just after I finished saying that the habitat looked good for this species and Nelson's Sparrow. I was doing landscape photography of the prairie when Dottie calmly but excitedly announced, "I've got one ... one of the orange sparrows!"
