Chestnut-sided Warbler
Warbler activity was super intense along the creek corridor of Pheasant Branch Conservancy today. I birded before and after work. All of these images were taken within a half an hour of birding in the evening under overcast skies. Our "twenty warbler species days" won't last too much longer, though. In another week and a half diversity will begin to decrease. There will likely be a few stragglers in the mix and the diligent birder might be rewarded with a Connecticut Warbler, but by the end of the third week of May my focus will begin to shift outside the creek corridor and back to prairies. Because this migration seemed somewhat delayed, perhaps it will pay to stay at the corridor a little longer. On the other hand, it does appear that the warblers are back on schedule having taken advantage of favorable tailwinds the past few days.
