"Bugs never bug my head ― they are amazing. It is the activities of humans which actually bug me all the time."
― Munia Khan
I awoke to 35 degrees outside ― a bit too chilly for tiger beetles, though it promised to warm up later on in the day. A line of clouds stretching across the state threatened the crisp sunlight I prefer for nature photography. Sensing diminished opportunity, I decided to stay home. But a brief afternoon break in the clouds prompted me to head over to nearby Pope Farm Conservancy to check the boulders for Six-spotted Tiger Beetles. I had around an hour with the zippy green insects and managed to capture some fairly nice portraits.
I have more material for a forthcoming blog post. Yesterday I spent the day at Spring Green Preserve and photographed sparrows, tiger beetles, wildflowers, and scenery. Alas, I'm too sleepy to work on it right now. Tomorrow I'm planning on heading out to Wyalusing State Park to pickup Kentucky and Yellow-throated Warblers. They don't always provide photographic opportunities, but it'll be fun just to hear them and maybe get a binocular glimpse.
