It Begins!

"Before the first before and after the last after, there is night waiting."

― Dejan Stojanovic
Fellow tiger beetler Lester Doyle seized the moment by going on a bug hunt when temperatures reached over 70 a few days ago. Naturally, he found the first beetles of spring 2022 here in southern Wisconsin ― small numbers of Oblique-lined. I had prognosticated it, but I was home and still getting over viral crud. I'm feeling much improved today. A glance at the coming weekend forecast and it's clear they're going to retreat to (or remain in) their burrows and wait until the temps rise once again.

I will be ready.
