"The only difference between everybody and nobody is all the shoes."
― Amor Towles
I haven't purchased any new hiking/walking shoes since before the pandemic. Earlier today I was thinking I should go shopping for new shoes at REI, but then I decided to inspect the collection piled up in my closet to see which were salvageable, and which were not. At the end of my shitty-weather shoe cleaning and repair project, I ended up with 8 solid pair that likely have many trail-years left. To be sure, there's something nice about buying new shoes, but I likely saved a few hundred dollars that best be spent on ... guitars! There are still other shoes in my closet that might be OK if I get them resoled, but there are some I should definitely toss.
Anyway, here's the completed reclamation effort:
Asolo, Keen, and Merrell are my brands.
With simple supplies:
Almost like new!
