Want to digiscope with your iPhone 4 or 4S? If you own a Kowa Prominar 77 or 88, Swarovski ATM/STM, ATS/STS (20-60x and 25-50x zoom), or Vortex Razor HD 85 spotting scope, then you're in luck. Kowa’s TSN-IP4S adapter fits the above spotting scope eyepieces. After testing various spotting scopes, it definitely will not work with the Leica 82 and Zeiss 85 (new eyepiece). Here it is attached to the Vortex Razor 20-60x85 HD scope:

Thanks for testing it on a variety of scopes. Do you have anything to suggest for Zeiss Diascope owners (20-60x zoom)?
ReplyDeleteI wanna get this for my NIkon ED 82 (55mm diameter of 30x eyepiece) but it is hard to find it in Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteDrew,
ReplyDeleteActually, I think it *does* fit the eyepiece you have. I'll try and confirm tomorrow.

Try the MeoPix iScoping Adapter... I believe they make versions for swaro and zeiss

ReplyDeleteTo the best of my knowledge the MeoPix adapter only works for Meopta spotting scopes. I'm not aware of any versions for other spotting scopes. We've tried fitting it with other scopes without success.

ReplyDeleteThe Kowa iPhone adapter works perfect with the Zeiss 15-45/20-60x eyepiece # 528067. Just tested it out.

Thanks MIke!
ReplyDeleteHey Mike- good looking product. Do you know (or can you find out) the inside diameter of the Kowa adapter?
ReplyDeleteRE the Meopta iPhone adapter, I have 42, 44, and 49mm versions for reviewing. The 42 snugs on my Nikon binocular eyecups (EDG & Monarch 7), and the 49mm will fit over my 30X wide EDG Spotting Scope eyepiece if I unscrew the eye cup assembly. To keep the adapter from peeling off my screen protector I cut a bevel into the leading edge on the top and bottom sections (makes sense if you are using one) using a Dremmel tool with a small grinding wheel. Now my iPhone goes in fine with the screen protector intact.
Hey Bill,
ReplyDeleteI'll measure it tomorrow!
Mike
Thanks, Mike!
ReplyDeleteHey Bill,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get to it yesterday!
My measurement indicates 56mm.
Mike
Roger that- thanks again!!
DeleteMike,
ReplyDeleteMeopta is making versions for the Swaro ATM ATS and Zeiss Victory

Hey Mike,
ReplyDeleteI have a Vortex Razor scope, so I'm all set there.....they indicated that it would work on binos. I have a "nasty" pair of 8x42 Atlas Intrepid EDs ....think it will work?
Thanks,

Mike,
ReplyDeleteHere is another company that has unlimited adapters (Vortex, Swarovski, Leupold, Leica, Zeiss, ETC. Spotting scopes, binoculars, telescopes, microscopes) and works for Android, iPhones, ETC. Even has the iPhone 5 Set up already!

I really appreciate your 'blog, a great resource. I have a Nikon Fieldscope III ED with the zoom eyepiece. Is there an iPhone 4/4s adapter for this scope set up? Thanks
ReplyDeleteMike,
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of Swarovski 8X32 Swarovisions. The Kowa binocular adaptor that I have fits my 8.5X42 Swaros but is just a little too big for my 8X32's. Do you know if Kowa makes a smaller adaptor ring or whether it's possible to modifty mt current ring perhaps with some foam glued inside?
Renner
Hi Renner,
ReplyDeleteLooks like right now there isn't one that fits.
Best,
Mike M.
