Perhaps one of the most iconic symbols of American Music & Pop Culture is the Fender Stratocaster; a solid-body electric guitar designed by Clarence Leonidas "Leo" Fender. Virtually unchanged since its development and release during the early 1950s ― when you do something right, just keep doing it. As some of you may know, there was a period of time when Fender was purchased by CBS and nearly destroyed the company. In 1985 the company was purchased back by its employees. Shortly thereafter Fender returned to its roots with the American Standard Stratocaster, righting many of the wrongs that CBS had made to the guitar. Today Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is thriving and making some of the finest electric guitars ever made.
